Why did we form this group?
The Forum was developed to examine the current levels of fire protection and preparedness in the greater San Diego Region, provide specific recommendations to enhance fire protection and preparedness, and to educate the public and regional leaders about what actions are required to adequately prepare for future wildfires and emergency events.

What did we hope to accomplish?
The development of practical recommendations to ensure every responsible effort required for prudent fire preparedness in the San Diego Region is addressed and used as a platform for public education.

Are any of our positions in conflict with other findings?
No. Many of the findings and recommendations of the Forum are consistent with previous efforts. Several recommendations of the Forum offer specific remedies to consider for enhancing the fire preparedness of the region.

Were funding sources considered? What are they?
Yes. Discussions of funding enhanced regional fire preparedness and fire protection included working within current funding levels at all levels of government, and consideration of new funding sources including sales tax, parcel assessment, bonds, grants, etc.

Who should read/use/implement our recommendations?
Every citizen in San Diego County. The Forum strongly believes the level of awareness and preparedness required for future wildfires must be clearly understood and acted upon to increase our survivability and maintain our region's quality of life.

Where do we go from here?
The Forum is committed to improving fire preparedness and fire protection in San Diego. Every effort must continue to ensure the catastrophic impact from wildfire in the future is minimized.
